Webmaster's Elementary
SSIFirst variant of my site used frames. Browser window was split in two: the left one had navigation menu and the counter, the right one displayed selected pages. Using frames I made a conclusion: it's better not to use them. Once in Computerra magazine there appeared a series about site building. There were many good things, including SSI, described. SSI stands for Server Side Includes. It is unavoidable while creating normal website. This technology is comprehensively described here: The most necessary for beginning webmasters is SSI command of include, which allows to insert separate data into webpages. For example, it is possible to insert navigation menus which can be altered from time to time without rewriting every page. SSI commands are actively used for many CGI programs, such as visit counter on this page. Generally speaking, if you want to make well-functioning website, you should search for hosting provider who allows SSI use.
